Support Us
The DoorWays project was established to support and assist young people aged 13-25, living in and around Saltburn, to create a fuller integration in their local community. DoorWays is run and supported by the generous donations of local businesses and government grants. The more funding we receive the more we can help young people improve their conditions of life and develop their physical, emotional and spiritual capabilities.
Calling All Volunteers
If you are considering volunteering, Doorways would be happy to talk to you. Even small tasks are valued, as it enables others to get on with the job in hand; whether it is cleaning (we would worship you), admin or attending meetings on our behalf - it all counts. Please feel free to drop in at any time or call us.
The need
Evidence of this need in our area is seen in the initial response to our questionnaire to local business and community organisations. This questionnaire showed both an understanding of Doorways and its work and that a significant difference has been made to the general image of young people and their "street visibility" in the town. However, local businesses in the town still feel that further work could be done with respect to provision for young people in the evenings - providing an alternative to loitering outside shops and kicking footballs around the town square. Through our own experience of working with young people, though pressure from media / peers / culture may change over time the young people are very much the same and their needs are still the same; to belong, be valued, appreciated and allowed to take part.
