About us

The DoorWays project was established in 1998. This project is managed by Saltburn Christian Projects, a charitable company limited by Guarantee. The project aims to work with young people aged 13-25, living in and around Saltburn. We hope to develop facilities and support networks which will benefit young people, and provide the kind of support, advice and information needed during times of difficulties.

No judgements

Apart from meeting with young people through our drop-in, we operate in the streets - through local churches, groups and agencies. DoorWays make no judgements regarding young people whatever their background, belief, culture or sexuality; our motivation is to help and advise where possible and refer to others where appropriate.

Our centre is wheel chair accessible and can provide guidance to any young person regardless of disability. We also understand that Saltburn is home to a number of refugees, who we try to keep in contact with, and cater to through a local hostel by providing help and support.

What all this means is that who ever you are, we can be there for you.

Our Aims

  • Enabling young people to take a responsible part in and contributing to the community
  • Involving young people in healthy activities and sports
  • Increasing their self-esteem and helping them reach their full potential
  • Staying safe, through workshops and information regarding risk-taking behaviour
  • Engaging with young people in innovate and relevant ways, using multi-media and creative arts
  • Speaking positive into negative situations and encouraging belief in achieving what they feel is out of reach
  • Through the C Card scheme meet young people faced with teenage pregnancy and sexual health issues. Share our values and offer practical advice and support.
